Porcelain veneers are durable, tooth-shaped shells of dental porcelain that are about as thin as a contact lens. Each one is custom-made to perfectly fit over the visible portion of a tooth, completely changing its appearance. The beautiful dental porcelain veneers are crafted from can be shaded to match the color of your natural teeth perfectly, so they’ll blend right in once they’ve been bonded to the front of a tooth. Whether you’re interested in improving one troublesome tooth or correcting several teeth at once, porcelain veneers are a quick, easy, and dazzling solution.

Porcelain veneers are such a versatile service that they can improve nearly any cosmetic dental issue, including:

This minimally invasive cosmetic treatment can help nearly anyone get the smile of their dreams. However, your DeSoto cosmetic dentist will carefully inspect your teeth and gums during your consultation to make sure they’re a good choice for you. Issues like tooth decay, weakened enamel, and gum disease can influence the success of your porcelain veneers, so they will need to be addressed first. Once your oral health is back on track, we can move forward with improving the look of your smile.

After you and Dr. Najjar have decided that porcelain veneers are a great fit for your smile, a thin layer of enamel will be carefully and gently removed from the imperfect tooth or teeth. This ensures that the veneer has a suitable surface to bond to and won’t look bulky once it’s been placed. Then, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and send them to a dental laboratory, where they’ll be used to create your personalized veneers.
In the meantime, Dr. Najjar will cover your teeth with temporary veneers to keep them safe and comfortable until your next appointment. In just a few weeks, you’ll come into our office again and have your temporary veneers replaced with permanent porcelain veneers. After any final adjustments, you’ll walk out of our practice with a dazzling smile that’s ready to be shown off!

Thanks to modern advancements in dentistry, there are a variety of cosmetic treatments to choose from when it comes to perfecting your pearly whites. However, porcelain veneers offer a few unique advantages over other options, like:

While price isn’t the only factor you should consider when transforming your smile, it certainly is one of them. Since veneers in DeSoto are custom-made based on each patient’s dental needs and smile goals, there is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to how much you can expect to invest. There are, however, a few factors that play a role across the board, starting with determining which cosmetic treatment benefits your smile and wallet!

Veneers have been (and continue to be!) one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments year after year. After all, they are extremely lifelike, last for 10+ years with proper care, and can completely transform the look of your smile in as little as two appointments. With that being said, they aren’t the only smile-enhancing solution available. Here are a few common treatments and the financial components to consider:

Unfortunately, veneers aren’t considered “medically necessary,” and therefore aren’t typically covered by dental insurance providers. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t make getting your dream smile affordable! Our team welcomes low-to-no interest financing through CareCredit and LendingClub, which allows you to break up the cost of even the most extensive treatments.
If you are interested in learning the exact price of achieving your dream smile with veneers or simply have a question regarding the price, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with our cosmetic dentist in DeSoto. That way, we can help you take the next step toward your dream smile!
While veneers typically last between five and ten years, you can enjoy them for much longer with proper care. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that you implement a solid oral hygiene routine to prolong their lifespan. With this in mind, make sure to brush twice a day, floss daily, and visit us every six months for a professional cleaning. Plus, it is a good idea to quit poor dental habits (like smoking) that can compromise their integrity.
If you aren’t using veneers to transform each tooth, then you may be wondering if your natural teeth will stand out like a sore thumb. The answer? Absolutely not. Since each veneer is custom-made, Dr. Najjar can ensure that it blends in seamlessly with your smile. However, if you would prefer to make it a lighter shade and undergo a teeth whitening treatment to make the rest of your teeth match, then that is an option as well!
Since pain is often the root of dental-related anxiety, it isn’t surprising that this makes the list of the most frequently asked questions. Fortunately, if you’ve been hesitant to move forward due to fear of the process hurting, you’ll be happy to know that our team goes above and beyond to make you as comfortable as possible. While you may experience some gum irritation and soreness following your procedure, Dr. Najjar will provide you with aftercare instructions to ensure your recovery is pain-free!
Although veneers are crafted from durable, high-quality, stain-resistant materials, they aren’t indestructible. Therefore, it’s best to avoid foods that leave them vulnerable to cracks, chips, or fractures. With this in mind, limit hard candy, tough bread, caramel apples, pumpkin seeds, and popcorn. (Also, remember to avoid poor dental habits, like chewing ice!).
If one of your veneers comes off, it is important to remain calm. Priority number one is contacting our office so we can repair your smile as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep the veneer in a safe, clean place until your appointment. Under no circumstances should you use any household items, like crazy glue, to attempt to remedy the situation. If you experience sensitivity, then do your best to stay away from hot and cold foods and drinks until after your visit.
In order to make room for your veneers, we will have to shave off a tiny sliver of your natural enamel. Normally, we wouldn’t recommend doing this, since your enamel helps protect your teeth from harmful bacteria. However, your veneers will function as an effective shield, and your oral health won’t suffer because of your new cosmetics. In some cases, veneers actually help support enamel that has become weakened and reduce dental sensitivity!
Patients sometimes have trouble pronouncing certain sounds when they first get their veneers, but this effect should fade with time. Most often, it occurs because the patient simply isn’t used to the new shape of their smile yet. As you learn how to press your tongue against the back of your teeth to produce “s,” “sh,” “th,” and “z” sounds, you’ll be able to speak more and more clearly.
If, however, you continue to experience difficulties for more than two weeks, please contact our team. It could be that your veneers don’t fit quite right and need to be readjusted.
Ultimately, it will depend on the vision you have for your smile. The goal of a dental veneer treatment is to cosmetically enhance your visible teeth to improve the appearance of your smile, so we’ll recommend however many veneers are necessary to create a flawless, seamless look. Some patients simply want to conceal the dental blemishes of a singular tooth, while others need as many as 12 veneers to achieve their treatment goals.
Rest assured, we’ll let you know what you can expect during your consultation.
Unfortunately, teeth whitening doesn’t have the same effect on veneers as it does natural enamel.
Like many surfaces, your enamel has microscopic holes known as “pours.” The bleaching agents used in teeth whitening solutions are specifically formulated to fit through the pours in your enamel so they can reach and eliminate the stains trapped underneath. Since veneers are made from porcelain, they don’t have the same porosity. In fact, veneers generally take longer to stain than enamel!
That said, if your veneers do start to look yellowish and worn, we can restore their pearly shine with a good polish. If that doesn’t do the trick, we can replace them entirely so you can continue to enjoy the appearance of your smile.
